This project involved a substantial wraparound rear extension designed to significantly improve the spatial flow and usability of the ground floor. The extension opens up the existing plan to create a generous kitchen–dining space that forms the heart of the home, strengthening the connection between internal living areas and the garden beyond. Large openings to the rear maximise views and daylight, while the extension’s contemporary form is clearly articulated yet remains subservient to the original dwelling.

At first-floor level, a large modern rear dormer was introduced to enhance head height and improve the quality of accommodation within the upper storey. The dormer allows significantly more natural light to enter the rear bedrooms, transforming previously constrained spaces into bright, comfortable rooms with improved proportions. Together, the ground and first-floor interventions work cohesively to modernise the home, delivering a more spacious, light-filled living environment suited to contemporary family life.
