Project Overview
Primrose Bank is a full renovation and extension project located in the sought-after village of Hoar Cross. The scheme transforms an existing property into a five-bedroom luxury residence, set within a private plot surrounded by mature woodland and open countryside.
The project focused on elevating the original dwelling into a high-end home, combining contemporary architectural interventions with a sensitive response to its rural context.
Design Approach
The architectural approach centred on contrast and cohesion, introducing modern extensions that enhance the original structure without overpowering it. Clean lines, refined material palettes, and carefully proportioned openings were used to create a balanced composition.
Contemporary additions were designed to read as intentional interventions, while maintaining a dialogue with the existing building through scale, form, and materiality.

Internal Transformation
Internally, the property was completely reconfigured to suit modern family living. The layout prioritises open-plan spaces, improved circulation, and stronger connections between key living areas.
Large openings and glazed elements maximise natural light, creating a sense of openness and clarity throughout. The design balances functional family requirements with a refined, high-end spatial experience.

Material & Detailing Strategy
A restrained material palette was adopted to ensure longevity and architectural clarity. High-quality finishes, subtle textures, and precise detailing were key to achieving a luxury feel without unnecessary complexity.
Externally, materials were selected to complement the rural surroundings, grounding the building within its landscape while reinforcing its contemporary identity.

Outcome
The completed scheme delivers a cohesive and highly considered home that successfully bridges traditional and contemporary architecture. The result is a private countryside residence that feels both modern and rooted in its setting.
Primrose Bank demonstrates how thoughtful design can unlock the full potential of an existing property, creating long-term value both spatially and architecturally.
